
DR SELAM TEBEJE

Selam Tebeje Eshete has more than eight years of experience working as a physician. Currently, Dr Selam is a board-certified physician who works as department head of anesthesiology for St. Peter’s Specialised Hospital, focusing on perioperative and critical patient care. Inspired by her son, who was born with Down syndrome, she volunteers for non-profit organisations that work with persons with disabilities. She is the vice president of Fikir Ethiopian National Association for Intellectual Disabilities, an organisation with more than 15,000 members across nine regions of the country where she advocates for inclusive health and education systems. She is also an executive board member and clinical director of Special Olympics Ethiopia, organising free sports physicals and health screenings for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Dr. Selam is an alumni of Young African Leaders Initiative/Mandela Washington Fellowship 2022.
